HOW TO CHOOSE THE RIGHT CATERING COOLING
A catering refrigerator is an investment in the future. That is why you want to be sure of your choice. Which cooling is best suited to your catering business depends on a number of factors. These points of attention are important for the choice of catering cooling.
1. Type of cooling: forced or static
Not every catering refrigerator is the same. For example, the way of cooling can differ and that affects the cooling performance. In general, there are two types of cooling: forced and static. The biggest difference is the cooling temperature and how quickly the temperature is back up to standard.
Forced cooling : cold air is blown through the entire refrigerator. The temperature in the catering refrigerator is therefore the same everywhere. In addition, the temperature is back to normal more quickly. This is ideal for busy kitchens where the catering refrigerator is opened frequently.
Static cooling : cools by means of a cooling wall. It is colder at the bottom of the cooling than at the top. The big advantage of static cooling is that food products dry out less quickly.
2. Energy class
Energy saving is a hot topic, also in catering kitchens. That is not so strange: cooling and freezing equipment together account for about 25% of the total energy consumption in the kitchen. So a considerable energy saving can be achieved by choosing an energy-efficient catering refrigerator.
Furthermore, you benefit from tax advantages thanks to the Energy Investment Deduction (EIA). This makes investing in energy-efficient catering cooling extra interesting. You save on investment and energy costs.
3. Ambient temperature
An environment that is too warm affects the cooling performance. The warmer the environment, the harder a catering refrigerator has to cool to keep the temperature at the right level. Does this happen too often? Then malfunctions and failures are lurking. That is why catering refrigerators have been developed for specific climate classes that indicate the maximum ambient temperature. Each climate class indicates up to which ambient temperature a catering refrigerator functions optimally. In the Netherlands and Belgium, climate class 5 applies. This means that cooling equipment continues to function optimally up to a maximum ambient temperature of 43 °C.
